Storm Damage266 viewsAn uprooted tree lays across the front lawn of a ranch house on Front Street near Silvershell Beach in Marion last Friday. Earlier in the day, a Mattapoisett Fire truck monitored the scene after a downed powerline caused a fire and closed Water Street down the street from Town Hall. North of Route 195 in Mattapoisett, a snapped-off tree is held up by a utility wire. Photos by Mick Colageo and Marilou Newell

Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race265 viewsThe Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race was held on May 31 and this year was back to the complete course after holding a half-length race in 2020. Ospreys262 viewsThe ospreys have doing some home renovations, and mother osprey has not left her nest since mid April. The father seems to go fishing, snack on the fish, and bring the rest to the mother. Hopefully, we will see some babies in June. It looks like his fish feast could feed a family of four. Little Free Diverse Library260 viewsIt's been a year since Tri-Town Against Racism’s first Little Free Diverse Library was installed at Ned's Point in Mattapoisett, and on May 12 TTAR members along with supporters gathered again to celebrate, this time the reopening of the little library that in November 2021 had been vandalized, destroying both the structure and the books it held. That senseless act only fostered a stronger sense of purpose and community unity. Photos by Marilou Newell
