Azorean Maritime 343 viewsThe Azorean Maritime Heritage Society in New Bedford, MA is hosting about 70 people from the Azores in early September 2010 for the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta with teams from USA, racing against teams from Pico and Faial. Memorial Day Boat Race343 viewsOn Monday, dozens of boats hit the Mattapoisett River for the 78th Annual Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race. Boat 1, comprised of Sean Shaw of Rochester and C.J. Memorial Day 2013343 viewsMemorial Day 2013 offered something for everyone as the Tri-Town came out in droves to remember American veterans who gave their lives. The Sippican School and Old Hammondtown bands performed, while festivities also included parades, speeches, and ceremonies from the American Legion and VFW. Olde Field Farm343 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Rochester Land hosted a joint walk at the Olde Field Farm property on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23. Hikers walked through the pinewood trails and through the frozen wetlands surrounding the Mattapoisett River, looking for animal tracks in the snow and admiring the natural beauty Rochester has to offer. Strengthening Families Fair343 viewsThere was so much to do and discover on March 1 at the “Strengthening Families Fair”, funded by the Department of Early Education & Care, and coordinated by the Old Rochester Regional School District. Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 343 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. The Mattapoisett, Marion, and Rochester Police Departments were joined by the Tri-Town Fire and EMS Departments, Marion Harbormaster, and Marion Recreation.
