The Sippican School and Old Hammondtown bands performed, while festivities also included parades, speeches, and ceremonies from the American Legion and VFW. Between 300 and 400 guests came to sample the chowder of 16 different teams, split into two categories: public safety and professional. Englund has a penchant for the underdog, saying he chose Metacomet AKA King Phillip as his subject matter because of history’s bias against him. “I knew his history as a warrior and I know he wasn’t given a fair shake by the historians,” said Englund.
