Con Spirito466 viewsThe Tri-County Symphonic Band, under the direction of Philip Sanborn, performed its Con Spirito program on Sunday February 2 at the Old Rochester Regional High School auditorium. In its 52nd concert season, the band welcomed guest French Horn Instrumentalist Roger Haber, and recognized Trumpeter Edith Pliskin on her 94th birthday coming up next week. Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association466 viewsThe Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association hosted a chowder competition on September 13 on the Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus grounds. Between 300 and 400 guests came to sample the chowder of 16 different teams, split into two categories: public safety and professional. Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 466 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. Various volunteer organizations and groups dependent on volunteer participation set up tables and invited the public to learn how they could help.
