Memorial Day Boat Race359 viewsDan Lawrence and William D. Watling III of Rochester (above left) broke the race record, winning the men’s division with a time of 1:46:59. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated. Memorial Day 2013359 viewsMemorial Day 2013 offered something for everyone as the Tri-Town came out in droves to remember American veterans who gave their lives. The Sippican School and Old Hammondtown bands performed, while festivities also included parades, speeches, and ceremonies from the American Legion and VFW. Relay for Life359 viewsIt rained down hard the night of the 9th annual Relay for Life at Old Rochester Regional, soaking the ground, the tents, and the participants – but it didn’t stop anyone from coming out anyway to walk for a cure and honor those who have battled cancer. 2015 Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge359 viewsThe 2015 Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day at Town Beach in Mattapoisett was a splashing success, according to event coordinator Michelle Huggins. The third annual polar plunge raised nearly $10,000 to provide financial assistance to local families battling cancer. Many participants donned costumes, competing for the best costume trophy.
