Hurricane of 1938542 viewsMattapoisett resident Tim Smith purchased a collection of original Hurricane of 1938 photographs from an auction recently. The photographs show the devastation of the legendary hurricane in the area of Mattapoisett’s Silver Shell Beach and Angelica Point. Mr. Smith does not believe that the pictures have ever been published, and gave The Wanderer the first chance at publishing the photos. He intends on donating the collection to the Mattapoisett Historical Museum. Photos courtesy of Tim Smith.

Members of the ORR team check out the scoreboard, which was quite active all night. The official score for the game was 12-2 in ORR’s favor, however, the scoreboard stopped keeping score at 8-2 due to the landslide victory. The win marked ORR’s sixth of the season, while the Vikings haven’t recorded a win yet. Photo by Felix Perez.
