Hammond Quarry662 viewsMattapoisett Land Trust President Mike Huguenin led a group of about 52 people on a walk about Hammond Quarry, a historical property off Mattapoisett Neck Road that the MLT is hoping to acquire next year. Pink granite was mined from the site between the early 1700s through the early 1900s, and the MLT plans to purchase the property to preserve the quarries and carve out trails for public access. A Work of Heart 662 viewsA regular strand of lights can be tricked out in a photo by cutting a tiny heart shape into a black piece of construction paper and attaching it to the front of the lens. We made this as our Valentine to you, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester! Photo by Jean Perry

Plasticastrophe! 661 viewsIt doesn’t matter that she’s about to be eaten by King Kong – Barbie stays smiling, as do all the Barbies planted in Teresa Dall’s “Barbie Garden” of 16 North Street in Mattapoisett. Here, Barbie manages to display a little Fourth of July spirit while making imminent annihilation appear blissful. Photo (and flag accessory) by Jean Perry - July 5, 2018 edition

Snow Flowers660 viewsThese sad-sallow daffodils in front of the Rochester Town Hall look pretty much like how we all felt Sunday morning when we woke up and looked out the window. The region experienced a strange series of snow squalls coupled with high winds on April 3, followed by a late spring snow and slush storm on Monday that manifested into unalloyed New England hell.
