Springtime287 viewsSpringtime weather in southeastern Massachusetts as usual has been a mixed bag, but on Monday these blooming Daffodils in front of the Marion Town House signaled the change of seasons. Almanac.com says that these fall perennials should be planted before the first freeze and that while they prosper in direct sunlight, they will grow in some measure of shade provided the ground is not too wet. For that reason, effective drainage is essential, be it in a pot or on the side of a hill. Photo by Mick Colageo

Ned’s Point Lighthouse286 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months. The lighthouse typically draws 100 visitors from all over the world when open during any regular, three-hour session. Photo by Mick Colageo

Marion Department of Public Works283 viewsMarion Department of Public Works Director Nathaniel Munafo manages a site at the end of Benson Brook Road that will see changes should voters support funding for a new DPW operations center at the May 9 Annual Town Meeting. To that end on Saturday morning, town officials conducted a second open house to educate residents about decaying and otherwise-inadequate facilities across Route 6 at the Highway Barn, followed by a visit to the site of the proposed construction.
