Rochester Country Fair533 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair pressed on in the face of a “critical” EEE threat in Rochester over the weekend, August 10-11. Festivities were canceled for Thursday and Friday, but there was plenty of tractors, music, vendors, and fried fair food to keep the spirit of the Rochester Country Fair alive. Boston Post Cane598 viewsSelectman Brad Morse presented the Boston Post cane to Rochester’s oldest living resident, Edna Chadwick, 101, at her home on June 11. The Boston Post cane tradition was started in 1909 when the now defunct newspaper presented 700 New England towns with ebony canes imported from Africa and crowned in 14-karat gold to be passed down to the oldest resident living in the town. The last cane holder, Marion Thomas, passed away on April 19, 2019, at the age of 102. Photo courtesy Amanda BaptisteJun 19, 2019

Rochester turned 340 594 viewsHey, hey, it’s your birthday, Rochester! Rochester turned 340 years old on June 4, and the third grade class from RMS was invited to celebrate with some cake and ice cream at the senior center on Tuesday. Students started the day with a tour around historic Rochester before breaking for lunch and sharing a large birthday cake with seniors. Students also received a free “Rochester 340” t-shirt, courtesy of a grant that funded the students’ birthday gifts. Photos by Jean PerryJun 05, 2019
