Town Meeting12 viewsBoth Marion and Mattapoisett held their Annual Town Meetings on Monday. Residents participated in the direct democracy votes on various articles in a longstanding continuation of the practice from colonial times. Of the many articles voted upon, in Marion all were passed except Article 43, the Citizen’s Petition which was passed over to fall and in Mattapoisett all were passed except Article 27 which was voted against. Mattapoisett Lions Club Senior Dinner16 viewsOn Saturday, April 18, the Mattapoisett Congressional Church hosted the Mattapoisett Lions Club Senior Dinner. Nearly every seat in the hall was taken up by local seniors chowing down on a full turkey dinner; which also included apple pie for dessert. Last weekend at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, art created by students of Ms. Greta Anderson’s art class at Old Hammondtown School was on display. But not just any art, this was for the Annual Arbor Day Poster Contest sponsored by the state and the Mattapoisett Tree Committee. This year, the theme was “If Trees Could Talk.” 34 students submitted art to be voted upon. The winner will go to the state competition in Boston.
