Tri-Town Against Racism41 viewsThe Tri-Town Against Racism held their annual Black History Month Creative Expressions Contest on February 7 in the Mattapoisett Library. The event is in its sixth year, with the 2026 event seeing around 30 grade school students from the area submit their artwork. The winners are Noah Santos, Kenna Thompson, Jacoby Santos, Alex Amaral, and honorable mention, Mathew Crain. The exhibition is open throughout Black History Month in the library. Martin Luther King, Jr.62 viewsThe Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial located between the National Mall and Potomac River. After extensive planning lasting a few decades, the memorial finally opened in 2011. The address of the memorial is 1964 Independence Avenue, the same year Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize. The Town House was closed, and renovations began in September 2025, with work seeing the building become Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, addition of a fire-suppression system, HVAC installation, and an internal lift.
