Rose Bowman, seen on Monday outside Center School, is retiring as principal of Mattapoisett Schools at the end of this academic year. Bowman’s career dates back to 1971 when she began teaching at the Hathaway School in New Bedford. She has been serving in the Old Rochester Regional School District over 30 years and says that education has evolved so that children are consumed less with rote instruction and now are learning how to think through creative problem-solving.
