Corpse flowers – These monotropa uniflora – “Indian pipes”, “ghost plant”, or “ghost pipes” as they are otherwise known – are perennial waxy-white, fleshy, iridescent flowers that rise from the forest floor like tiny ghosts in a graveyard, hidden beneath the shadows of ferns and fallen tree trunks.
