Raymond “Ray” Cebula

            On September 4, 2024, Raymond “Ray” Cebula, 78 of Mattapoisett left this earth and joined his father, mother and brother Leo, Evelyn (Winiarski) and Bob Cebula. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann who he was devoted to for more than 54 years.

            Ray was blessed with six children, 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is survived by only son John Murray of Palmer, and five daughters, Launa Wentworth and her husband Doug of Southwick, MA, Carrie Berkness and husband Dale of South Londonderry, VT, Leanne Risgin and husband John of South Dartmouth, MA, Jennifer Secrest and her husband Jarrard of San Antonio, TX, and Dawn Cormier and her husband Shaun of Mattapoisett, MA; his grandchildren Cullen, Jack and Evan Murray, Brendan, Josh, Kathleen and Sierra Burke, Amanda Berkness, Julien Pedro, Adrian Cebula, Haley Secrest, Noah and Lucas Cormier, and great grandchildren Bailey, Charlie and Ariya Burke. He leaves behind his brother Alan Cebula, sister-in-law Terry Cebula, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Ray graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Western New England University. Ray loved his job and rose up the ranks to V.P of Engineering in Acushnet Company.  He was respected by coworkers and mentored many people. Ray enjoyed traveling, boating, and the outdoors. He shared his love of fishing with his children by teaching them how to bait a hook and reel in a fish. He valued hard work and instilled to his children to work hard and “do the job right the first time”. He had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh. His children love him and will remember how he kept the peace. They will continue to miss him every day.

            His family and friends will say goodbye on Saturday, September 14, 2024. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Memory of Raymond L Cebula to support head and neck cancer.
