For the past six years, the young gardeners have planted before Memorial Day to give back to the community that has given so much to them. Each scout chose community service projects to attain the rank: Matthew coordinated a successful Red Cross blood drive; Charles organized the repair of the Mattapoisett Historical Society’s picket fence; and Alex helped senior citizens with difficult chores.
