Fruits of their Labor648 viewsMembers of the Souza family of Rochester — (l. to r.) Lori Souza, Tyler Souza, David Souza, Kerrin Souza, and Kayla Souza — all pitched in last weekend to help harvest this year’s crop of cranberries at one of the few remaining bogs in town. Sunrise Shipyard Service724 viewsMembers and guests of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church gathered in the town's Shipyard Park for their annual Easter Sunrise Service with Reverend Dr. Virginia H. Child on Sunday, April 8. The chilly but tranquil setting of the harbor glistening in the early morning golden sunlight served well to complement Reverend Child's sermon on peace and renewal. Cruisin' in Rochester2003 viewsIt just wouldn’t be summertime without the welcoming sight of classic cars filling the parking lot of the Plumb Corner Mall in the center of Rochester. A sizeable number of car owners and admirers filled the lot this past Monday night and enjoyed both the classic vehicles and some golden oldies music. The nostalgic car cruise event takes place every Monday evening in the lot directly across from the Rochester Town Hall starting at 6:00 pm and runs through the summer season. (Photo by Kenneth J. Sign of the Times1312 viewsLast weekend members of the Rochester Lions Club and Rochester Police Department erected a community bulletin board in the center of town. Located near the busy intersection of Route 105, Dexter Lane and New Bedford Road, the bulletin board will allow groups, organizations and the town to advertise events and make announcements of interest to the townspeople. Anyone wishing to use the sign may pick up a Bulletin Board Use Form at the Rochester Police Station, Rochester Town Hall, or call Sergeant Bill Chamberlain at 508-763-8956, extension 153, or John and Linda Cobb at 508-763-8970. Winter Sunset in Mattapoisett1304 viewsAlthough winter did finally rear its ugly head this week with a long overdue snowfall on Monday, this idyllic photograph taken recently at the Town Wharf in Mattapoisett is just another example of the fine weather we’ve been having this month. Apparently warm sunny days and scenic sunsets aren’t reserved for summertime anymore. (Photo by and courtesy of Carol Ingram).44444
