Marion Natural History Museum48 viewsAfter learning how to build a snake hibernaculum, a beaver lodge, and a bear den, the group tried their hand at creating miniatures for museum display. The beaver lodge was tested to see if it held water back and still kept the lodge dry inside. It was a huge success! Feel free to come in to view any of these creations during the museum’s open hours. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold.

Marion Natural History Museum48 viewsLast Wednesday, the museum's adult community program braved the cold to learn a little about how to identify trees in winter with DCR Forester James Rassman. From Birches to Poplars to Oaks we learned about branching patterns, bark design, and other techniques to identify our local trees without their leaves. Jim then stuck around to talk our afterschool group about the importance of trees and what they do for us and the earth. Many thanks to Jim for sharing his expertise with us.
