Marion Fire Department 225 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before. The Magical Lamp of Aladdin225 viewsCome see the ORR Junior High School Drama Club present its production of “The Magical Lamp of Aladdin” on March 15 at 7:00 pm, and March 16 at 2:00 pm in the ORRJHS auditorium. The show stars Storm Lanzoni as the charming and rather acrobatic Aladdin, Emma Zhou as Princess Jasmine, plus, not one, but three genies – Cattarinha Nunes as the Genie of the Ring, Jackson Veugen as the Genie of the Jewels, and Nicole Londergan as the Genie of the Lamp. Family Fun Festival 225 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home.
