Marion Natural History Museum304 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group had a wonderful time exploring what works (and what doesn't) when constructing a wooden sailboat. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. Marion Natural History Museum304 viewsSeveral students took advantage of the Marion Natural History Museum's new virtual reality set over the February vacation. Student Jacob Nye spent some time on a virtual tour of the Amazon Rain Forest, tried walking in space, and enjoyed visiting with animals under the sea. The virtual reality is available for children and adults to use by appointment only. Museum member families receive five free virtual tour visits, $5 per visit for non-members.

Tour de Crème304 viewsThis Sunday was the third annual Tour de Crème, a fundraising partnership between the Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. The ride started at the Town Beach and wound its way through the Southcoast, making stops at the various creameries along the way. Homecoming Queens 304 viewsColleen Oakes, originally from Marion, and Renee Buteyne, from Rochester, finished the trip of a lifetime on Monday, July 16, having ridden across the United States on their bicycles. Leaving Portland, Oregon on May 2, the two childhood friends arrived at Buteyne’s parents’ driveway about a month earlier than anticipated, greeted by family, friends, confetti, cookies, and of course, hugs.
