Family Fun Festival 307 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. This new opportunity to read books featuring stories about people of diverse color and backgrounds comes as Tri-Town Against Racism has launched “Goodnight Tri-Town.” The new reading program invites adults and students to volunteer to record themselves reading from a diverse picture book of their choice for bedtime listening by preschool and early elementary school-aged children.

4th Fireworks306 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor.
