Marion Natural History Museum323 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum had a great time learning how to identify some of our rare turtles and what to do if we find one. We found out which is our smelliest turtle and which can close up into a "box" so tight you can't even slip a piece of paper between its shell. The students had a chance to get up close with a diamondback terrapin, an Eastern box turtle, and an enormous Plymouth red-bellied cooter. Annual Tree Sale322 viewsA Decorating Committee from the Sippican Woman’s Club produced over 50 festive trees for the Tree Spree, which started in Handy’s Tavern. The tavern was decked out with themed trees, including a Barbie tree, a Hannukah tree, a Mallard duck tree, and even a tree decorated with recycled items like bottles and plastic bags. Over 20 girls dressed in their pink and red finest enjoyed dainty finger foods, festive cupcakes, red fruit punch, and tea. MAC Show322 viewsA two-person show will be opening at the Marion Art Center on February 28 with a reception to meet the artists from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The first exhibit, entitled “Beauty in the Boatyard – Ten Years at Burr Brothers” is by artist Terry Coleman, and the second exhibit entitled “Landscapes and Figures, Real and Imaginary” is by artist Molly Watson Hawley. Both artists have ties to New England and Marion.

The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee.
