The GBBC is a great citizen-science initiative to gauge how our bird species are doing, and all it takes is 15 minutes to count the number of species and how many of each, and submit your findings to Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) website: birdcount.org. Cushing Post 2425 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Marion Natural History Museum469 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group enjoyed learning about minerals and fossils with geologist Jim Pierson. The group also compared various artifacts such as relative sizes of Megaladon teeth versus White Shark, and took a look at many examples of fossils such as fish, leaves, and the tiny tracks of a trilobite. Cleaning Up468 views135 volunteers fanned out across Old Sippican armed with rubbish bags, gloves and “Manducca” trash grabbers helping to make Marion a bit greener during the town's Arbor Day Spring Clean up. Marion has held the event annually, under a variety of names, over the past three decades, encouraging residents to take pride in their community by clearing the roadways of trash and debris. Celebrating the 4th468 viewsMarion's annual fireworks display attracted several thousand people to the town's Silvershell Beach Park on Friday evening July, 3. The Marion town band entertained the crowd until dusk when the night's big show lit up the sky's above Sippican Harbor.
