Arts in the Park77 viewsThe Marion Art Center’s annual “Arts in the Park” event was greeted by a gorgeous weekend, as cars lined Marion’s streets and visitors strolled through Bicentennial Park, ducking into the shade of white tents to visit the many artisans and their goods. The students had a chance to take a close look at some of the artifacts he's found in his backyard and were shown how to use a metal detector to help find some of these items.

Pumpkin Palooza77 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion Natural History Museum77 viewsDespite having to reschedule the trip due to poor weather, October 3 was a perfect day to explore. We learned a little about the history of the structures that were built and destroyed during different winter storms and the Hurricane of 1938 which wiped out everything but the lighthouse. We heard that the lighthouse was built in 1819, and the original lighthouse keeper was William S. Moore.
