Klim’s style of rapidly applied, single-layer brushstrokes presents the viewer with a sense of fresh breezes guiding the artist’s hand. Baptista’s drawings invite the viewer into a world slightly off center but thick and dense with emerging stories. Now on view through May 17. Photos by Marilou Newell

Marion Natural History Museum120 viewsMany thanks to Mike Cronin for sharing his rocketry expertise with our afterschool group. We learned about what’s needed for lift-off and propulsion, as well as how to add the “recovery wadding” and parachute to ensure the rocket doesn’t get damaged. The kids had a wonderful time counting down and watching each of the rockets launch. The museum’s upcoming programs are listed at the museum website: www.marionmuseum.org. Hope to see you soon. Marion Natural History Museum119 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Maggie Payne for her fun and informative program on the Monarch butterfly. We learned about their life cycle, the plants these animals must have to reproduce and the plants they need to be able to survive their extremely long migration routes. We watched a video Maggie had taken of a monarch butterfly emerging from its chrysalis and expanding its wings to fly.
