Our group had a blast making ornaments (and eating junk food) during the event, and everyone brought home an ornament or two to share with the family.

Marion Natural History Museum19 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum braved the snowy weather Wednesday and attending members were rewarded with 18 different shoreline bird sightings. The sightings included a large “raft” of sleepy Greater Scaup, Canada Geese, American Black Duck, Surf Scoter, Long-tailed Duck, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Hooded Merganser, Red-breasted Merganser, Horned Grebe, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Common Loon, American Crow, American Robin, House Finch, Song Sparrow and Northern Cardinal. Marion Natural History Museum19 viewsThe Marion Natural Museum after-school group had two great days exploring and mapping Ram Island with our hosts Michael and Hannah Moore. Our gracious hosts allowed us to explore the island beaches, streams, saltmarshes, open-water areas and Osprey nests. Some of the students who attend our programs had not been in a boat or explored an island before. The museum is so very thankful to the Moores for allowing us to explore and map the island. Summer Reading Program19 viewsAs a kickoff to the summer reading program at the Elizabeth Taber Library and summer Natural History Museum programming, the Town of Marion was treated to a visit from a full-size whale, two very large dinosaurs and one baby dino named Spike. The Summer Block Party event held on June 24 started inside the Music Hall due to weather but later moved outside. The event also featured faux archeology digs and face painting. Arts in the Park19 viewsThe Marion Art Center held its annual Arts in the Park event on Saturday at Bicentennial Park. The jury-vetted assemblage of artisans surrounded the Elizabeth Taber statue and welcomed shoppers for their goods, while attendees also enjoyed goodies from a nearby food truck and live entertainment from the doorsteps of the MAC.
