We took a close look at tadpoles and salamanders undergoing metamorphosis, spotted turtles fighting with each other, a water snake, silversides and shrimp and much more. St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church60 viewsOn February 21, St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion celebrated Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party. We ate delicious food and played lots of great games. Many thanks to the Youth Group for all their hard work preparing the evening’s Louisiana-style foods and for leading the games. According to state fish and wildlife biologists Jason Zimmer and Steven Wright, the population is rapidly expanding into the eastern part of our state. Jason gave us some good tips to keep black bears out of our property, including removing bird feeders, covering and keeping our garbage contained, and how to keep bears out of our livestock.
