Marion Natural History Museum99 viewsOn February 28, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group enjoyed hearing about the efforts being made to protect the endangered Diamondback terrapin. Debra Ewing showed photos of the "Terrapin Garden" she helped to create in her neighborhood in Marion. The students had many interesting questions about this species, which were answered by Debra and two volunteers from New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA). Marion Natural History Museum99 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s after-school group had fun with hands-on inspections of some of our local amphibian species. We took a look at Green frog tadpoles, Wood frog and salamander egg masses. We also looked at some of our aquatic invertebrates, such as Water boatman, Caddisfly larvae and others that help by breaking down the leaves at the bottom of the pool and starting the forest food chain. The Town of Marion recognized his retirement with a drive-thru sendoff outside the Cushman Community Center. Marion 4th of July Parade98 viewsMarion Town Administrator Jay McGrail and Select Board members Norm Hills, John Waterman, and Randy Parker walked the Independence Day parade route on Monday morning along with veterans, marching bands, Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams, decorated floats, fire engines, and a convoy of antique cars. Beginning at the Town House, the parade route went up Spring Street, then east on Route 6 before going right onto Front Street all the way down to Main Street and back up to Spring. Photos by Ryan F
