Marion Veterans Day Observance226 viewsDuring the Marion Veterans Day observance on Friday morning, the townspeople of Marion expressed a heartfelt thank you to the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town. More than a dozen scouts took part in at least five races, with the fastest finishers pitted against each other down the stretch. Living History 226 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean
