The Heart of Christmas228 viewsMarion’s First Congregational Church delivered the season’s perfection with Cassandra Morgan directing ‘The Heart of Christmas’ cantata. This annual event is sugar on the plums for anyone who appreciates live music. The combined voices and instruments of over 60 performers filled the church with pitch perfect music telling the story of Jesus’ birth. From bluesy pieces or full operatic compositions by Pepper Choplin the full house was delighted and moved tears to joy. Photo by Marilou Newell

Fireworks Gala228 viewsPeople were still trickling in at 8:00 pm as the Marion Fireworks Committee’s second annual beach party on April 5 started picking up the pace with music and lights provided by Fun 107’s Michael Rock, and guests holding drinks with little umbrellas began shaking their hips. There was the scent of tropical coconutty sunblock in the air as guests perused the items up for auction, including a luxury African photo safari valued at $5,500. Photo by Jean Perry

Buzzards Bay Coalition228 viewsOne of the educational events the Buzzards Bay Coalition had planned for April vacation brought kids to the 6.1-acre property to explore the marshy beach for a scavenger hunt. The osprey from a nearby nest kept a close eye on the group until the treasures were tallied and the group waded back down the mud-puddled path to the road. Photo by Jean Perry

Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day228 viewsLittle kids and big, big machines on a warm spring Marion morning made for tons of fun at the Marion Recreation’s Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day on May 10. A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field. There were plenty of Department of Public Works, police, and fire personnel on hand to demonstrate how the vehicles work, to turn on lights and alarms, and answer questions. Photo by Jean Perry
