Marion Natural History Museum299 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group enjoyed learning the history of the Bird Island lighthouse and viewing the return of the birds to the island. We spotted roseate terns, common terns, oyster catchers, some unhappy Canadian geese, and a nesting mallard duck. We also learned about the recent restoration efforts made by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to improve drainage and provide adequate nesting habitat for the returning birds. Pinewood Derby298 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Other awards included, Best Theme to Connor Lavoie for his Batmobile, Best Design to David Strom for Kool Kone and Best Paint Job to Max Richins for Bulldog. Photos by Felix Perez
