Marion Natural History Museum235 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum Explored Group led by the staff from MattRec had a great week exploring Mattapoisett's open spaces. Along with crabbing, netting fish, building cairns, discovering types of seaweeds and saltmarsh vegetation, and plenty of swimming, we also met Coast Guard Fairhaven and Marion Flotilla members for a tour of Ned's Point lighthouse. We learned about oyster farming with Bob Field and enjoyed a boat tour of Mattapoisett Harbor with the Harbormaster's Office.

Marion Holiday Stroll235 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year. Kneel for Nine235 viewsA peaceful crowd gathered on the lawn of the Marion Music Hall on June 2 to kneel in solidarity for nine minutes calling for justice for the death of George Floyd and accountability for police brutality. Pinewood Derby234 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month.
