Marion Natural History Museum249 viewsOn November 28, the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group hosted Manny da Costa, a watershed scientist from Inter-fluve. Da Costa discussed some river restoration projects and taught about the importance of rivers for fish passage and water quality for our watershed. Student groups worked on problems involving hydrology, fish passage, riparian (rivers), and shellfish, and came up with some great ideas for protecting our watershed.

Coastal Sweep248 viewsLed by Marion resident Peter McDonald, environmentally-minded locals and Tabor students descended upon Marion’s Silvershell Beach and Planting Island, Mattapoisett Town Beach and Wareham’s Onset Beach to pick up trash and debris on the morning of September 17, 2011. The residents cleaned the beaches in solidarity with 400,000 individuals in 120 countries, all who participated in a global beach cleanup orchestrated by the Ocean Conservancy. Pinewood Derby248 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month.
