Marion Natural History Museum301 viewsOn March 13, the Marion Natural History Museum after school group learned about shells and the animals that inhabit them. We looked at some amazing gastropod and bivalve shells from the museum's historic collections, then we used shells to design our own animals and shared what type of habitat these animals might live in. Marion Natural History Museum301 viewsOn Wednesday, October 23 the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group went on a fall nature walk looking for signs of fall. One lucky student found an owl pellet under a tree! We were able to find burrows, nests, and even a small snake hiding under a log. We observed the different colors of the leaves of trees and shrubs and looked for mushrooms. It was great to spend such a beautiful fall day with these inquisitive kids!

4th Fireworks300 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor. Unless the town can secure a permanent source of funding, next year’s fireworks may be in jeopardy. Photo by Felix Perez.
