Boston Post Cane315 viewsAt 99 years old, Marion resident Caroline Derocha smiles as she accepts the Boston Post Cane, which is awarded to the oldest resident of each town. Ms. Derocha, who raised her family in Marion, said that her children and husband were “very good” to her. Ms. Derocha celebrates a long life of hard work. Block Party!315 viewsIt was a little earlier than usual, but the annual Marion Block Party on August 28, 2010 went off without a hitch. Children enjoyed cotton candy, a bounce house and face-painting, while the grown-ups enjoyed conversation and good weather. The pouring rain didn’t stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children. Police Dedication314 viewsThe public was invited to a building dedication and ceremony for the new Marion police station on July 10, 2010. The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street.
