This ancient game may or may not have ties dating back to the time of the Vikings and has been popular for the last 30 or 40 years on the Island of Gotland and in the southern part of Sweden. The event attracted about 20 youngsters aged twelve and younger with each child receiving a new fishing rod and reel as part of their entry. Town Hall Improvements533 viewsThe students from Old Colony Vocational High School led by Mr. Stu Norton repair and reconstruct the handicap ramp at the Mattapoisett Town hall. The students will be back in September to complete the re-construction of the emergency staircase leading from the second floor to grade. The Town has saved appx. $20,000.00 in labor costs and has provided the students a great learning experience and given them a sense of pride that can't be beat. Triple Threat532 viewsThe 2008 running of the Mattapoisett Lions Club Triathlon was held at the Mattapoisett Town Beach on Sunday morning, July 13, beginning at 8:00 am. This year 173 participants attempted the triple event which began with a swim in Mattapoisett Harbor, a bike ride into the town village, and a marathon back to the Town Beach.
