Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven. Electronics Recycling375 viewsDespite the rain, Boy Scout Troop #31 in Rochester held an Electronics Recycling Day at Plumb Corner on October 24. Relay for Life375 viewsChildren went to the Center School in Mattapoisett to make their own ornaments and gifts at the Relay for Life workshop on December 6, 2009. For a $6 donation, children could pick from crafts like pine cone Christmas trees, clothes-pin reindeer, and foam ornaments – paint, glitter and glue were in abundant supply. Flash Mob375 viewsMattapoisett native and Old Rochester Regional graduate Chad Michael Peters coordinated a "flash mob" on December 16. The mob of over 200 carolers, including many Tri-Town residents, convened at the Dartmouth Mall to surprise shoppers with a medley of three holiday classics: "Deck the Halls", "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells". Relay for Life374 viewsOver 200 Tri-Town residents gathered to help raise money for the American Cancer Society by participating in the fifth annual Relay for Life. The Relay started at 5:00 pm on Friday June 11 and continued until 12:00 pm on Saturday. Participants walked the track at ORR throughout the night and into the next afternoon as a way to honor cancer survivors and those who lost their battle to cancer. Personalized luminaria bags lined the track, lighting the way for the participants throughout the night.
