Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven. High Winds and Waves367 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night. The 4-foot Tegu was transported to Mattapoisett Animal Hospital for treatment and was then brought to an undisclosed location for nourishment. Friend's Garden366 viewsOn October 9, 2009, the garden at Friends Academy surpassed the 2000-pound of harvested vegetables benchmark, and then some. Harvesting a variety of greens plus sixteen pounds of carrots and eight pounds of winter squash, students bundled up 71.3 pounds of vegetables for their weekly delivery to the Food Pantry at Grace Episcopal Church.
