Lions Awards309 viewsOn January 10, 2014, at the Mid-Winter Conference of District 33S, Lions Clubs International was held at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor, Plymouth, MA. International Association of Lions Clubs President Barry J. Palmer of Berowra, NSW, Australia, was guest speaker and presenter of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to six Mattapoisett Lions. This award, among the highest in Lionism, was earned by the recipients for outstanding dedication to Humanitarian Services within their community.

In its 52nd concert season, the band welcomed guest French Horn Instrumentalist Roger Haber, and recognized Trumpeter Edith Pliskin on her 94th birthday coming up next week. The BBR, which takes place in Sippican Harbor, is the largest multi-class regatta in the country, with about 450 boats and over 1,100 sailors participating across 15 different classes.
