International Association of Lions Clubs President Barry J. Palmer of Berowra, NSW, Australia, was guest speaker and presenter of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to six Mattapoisett Lions. This award, among the highest in Lionism, was earned by the recipients for outstanding dedication to Humanitarian Services within their community.

The BBR, which takes place in Sippican Harbor, is the largest multi-class regatta in the country, with about 450 boats and over 1,100 sailors participating across 15 different classes.
