Kids at the Block492 viewsIt was a little earlier than usual, but the annual Marion Block Party on August 28, 2010 went off without a hitch. Children enjoyed cotton candy, a bounce house and face-painting, while the grown-ups enjoyed conversation and good weather. It was an appropriate send-off to summer, before Old Rochester schools started back up on September 1. Photos by Felix Perez. September 2, 2010 edition

Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition492 viewsAt the Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition on Sunday, descendants of the late retired Mattapoisett Fire Chief Donald “Woody” Wood posed together for a photo near an engine Wood operated during his career. Wood’s two daughters, Susan McMahon and Betsy Wood Jackson, along with four granddaughters, a grandson, and three great-granddaughters remembered Wood, with McMahon saying as she gestured to her family, “He’s the reason for all of ‘this’.” Wood passed away just this past May.
