Ned’s Point Sunset493 viewsOn a recent Ned’s Point evening, two young girls appear as silhouettes come to life while the setting sun floods the gloom in radiating shades of pink, yellow and orange. Low tide gave the evening travelers a footing on the rocky shore below the lighthouse. And, in the distance visited only by the human spirit, the hope of better days ahead was promised. Yee Haw, Maw!492 viewsRochesters Country Fair was a great success despite the cancellation of the Town Ball Game, Woodsman Show, the Block dance and the Bonfire due to EEE. The weather was perfect on Saturday as children raced frogs, climbed walls, bounced in castles and much more. Although the weather was less than perfect on Sunday, residents lined the streets with lawn chairs and umbrellas to watch as the Hillbilly themed parade passed. Photos by Felix Perez. Dickerson says the family-run business sees plenty of “average, regular” folks from Mattapoisett who have chosen marijuana as an alternative to addictive prescription drugs. Bloom (and Gloom) 491 viewsThe “bloom is off” the $7.9 million Marion Town House renovation article, which was defeated 214-120 on Monday night during the Annual Town Meeting. For now, the Town House will remain in its current state, which we think right now looks quite lovely juxtaposed behind the cherry blossom tree in full bloom outside. Photo by Jean Perry
