Last Snow? Hope So!518 viewsEven though the February 10, 2010 nor'easter didn't bring as much snow as forecasters predicted, it was still a sizable late winter storm. Pictured on the front cover is the Hiller Farm in Rochester the day after the storm, where even the horses are dreaming about spring. Photo by Anne O'Brien-Kakley. February 18, 2010 edition

Leaves of ‘Sass’ 518 viewsApril is, among other things, National Poetry Month, and the ‘poet-tree’ at the Mattapoisett Library keeps growing with new poem leaves springing up every day. We especially liked the message on this leaf: “When life gives you lemons, make orange juice. Be unique.” Right on, young sassy poet… Stop by and post a poem of your own before April is over. Turtle Power517 viewsHello, there. I’m a handsome, male painted turtle from Rochester currently making my habitat at Doggett’s Brook. I enjoy sunning myself on rocks and logs and swimming in the slow-moving water, and eating insects, fish, and plants. I don’t have any teeth, but I have cool stripes and razor-sharp claws. I’m looking for a female who loves basking in the warm sun, mating, and wants lots of kids. April 4, 2019 edition

Restoring Ram Island516 viewsHelicopters complete rounds from the Mattapoisett marina to Ram Island on March 8, 2010. The helicopters are part of the Ram Island Restoration Project, which is an effort to rebuild the eroded island so common and roseate terns can nest in their natural habitat. The helicopters will deliver 650 cubic feet of soil to the island and workers will then plant vegetation to prevent further erosion. Photo by Anne O'Brien-Kakley.
