Mattapoisett Annual Election596 viewsMattapoisett Town Clerk Catherine Heuberger assists a voter on election day, June 16, at Old Hammondtown School. 1,137 ballots were cast, as the polling place opened at 9:29 am and closed at 6:21 pm. Voters were spaced apart safely outside the school building and inside as well, entering the front of the school and exiting out the back of the auditorium to the parking lot. Golf Benefit595 viewsThe Bay Club of Mattapoisett is hosting a golf tournament to benefit Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford on Monday, October 15. High Street Equity Advisors LLC is the tournament sponsor. Other sponsors include: RBC Dain Rauscher and ITC, Inc. Charlotte Oliveira, Barbara Urquhart, both residents of Mattapoisett and John Kelleher of Dartmouth are Co-Chairs for the event. The day will include a silent and live auction and raffle prizes being coordinated by Angela Fusco of Mattapoisett and Marion resident, Bernadette Kelly. Nativity is a private independent middle school for boys who come from low-income families in Greater New Bedford. The goal of Nativity is to provide a top quality education in a safe structured environment for boys in grades 5-8. The school receivesno state or federal funding and receives support from local individuals, companies and foundations. Remembering Waterman592 viewsThe Third Annual Waterman School Reunion took place at the Rochester Memorial School on Saturday, September 12 attracting over 100 former students of the venerable elementary school. Waterman school, which was in the building that now houses the Rochester Fire Department, was the forerunner to RMS during the first half of the Twentieth Century. The students of Old Rochester Regional Junior High on November 24 hosted their annual Thanksgiving banquet for the senior citizens of Tri-Town – a tradition made possible by the volunteer staff and students who spend hours decorating, cooking, serving, and cleaning up after so seniors can get a taste of the school community’s gratitude for their support. The house will be loaded onto a barge and floated over Buzzard’s Bay to its new location on Brant Beach Ave. in Mattapoisett.
