Mattapoisett Town Oyster Farmer236 viewsBill Mansfield has become the de facto Mattapoisett town oyster farmer, overseeing the town’s oyster farming program since 2014. His efforts coupled with a crew of about 20 other volunteers has taken on the labor-intensive work of rearing young oysters to maturity in Pine Island Pond. When the shellfish beds are open in the fall, recreational license holders will reap the benefits. Photos by Marilou NewellJul 17, 2019
