Recycling Friends644 viewsThe recycling team at Friends Academy has been hard at work. To date, they have recycled 2.705 tons of paper which earned Friends Academy $13.52. In addition they have saved 18 cubic yards of landfill space and 11098 KWH of electricity, which prevented 5.42 tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. Beachside Tribute506 viewsUMass Dartmouth's Kikele Drumming Ensemble performs as friends and relatives of Curtis Doherty joined forces with the Marion DPW to spruce up the Silvershell Beach bath house in Marion over the past several weekends, painting it with environmentally-friendly, low VOC paint. Curtis spent countless hours over his lifetime on Silvershell Beach’s basketball court and last year teammates and friends designed and constructed granite and wood benches for the basketball court in Curtis’ memory.

Although initially slated to take place in the parking lot adjacent to the Marion General Store, the weekend’s rainy weather forced the event indoors.
