Mattapoisett’s Fire Department74 viewsMattapoisett’s Fire Department opened its doors to the community on October 12 with a grand party filled with family, friends and pizza. The event was an opportunity for the department to highlight fire prevention while tiny tots donned helmets and rang the bell on an antique fire engine. “It’s a great success,” said Chief Andrew Murray of the event that hosted several hundred people of all ages. New Fire Engine Number 3 was on display having just a day before been added to the fleet.

Mattapoisett Sustainability Partnership210 viewsThe Mattapoisett Sustainability Partnership continues to pursue ways to engage the public as its members work to understand better ways to provide sustainable solutions for a variety of human activity, including art. On September 2, an exhibit of recycled/upcycled works of art was on display at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. We were amazed at the variety of materials and types of art that were created from small shining towers to 3-D book sculptures to wearable art and more.
