Mattapoisett Woman’s Club316 viewsThe Mattapoisett Woman’s Club planted 1,500 King Alfred trumpet daffodil bulbs last fall. Today the glory of that effort is in full bloom across the community. Club member Roxanne Bungert spearheaded the effort after visiting Newport Rhode Island, where as many as one million bulbs have been planted over the years she attested. “We planted in several locations around town with the support and assistance of the Highway Department,” she said. Ned’s Point Sunset416 viewsOn a recent Ned’s Point evening, two young girls appear as silhouettes come to life while the setting sun floods the gloom in radiating shades of pink, yellow and orange. Low tide gave the evening travelers a footing on the rocky shore below the lighthouse. And, in the distance visited only by the human spirit, the hope of better days ahead was promised. White was contracted at $6.7 million by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in February 2019 to build Phase 1b of the “Shared-Use Path”, trees have been cleared and pilings installed, setting the table for imminent construction of a wooden bridge over the marshlands in Mattapoisett. Hearts for Hannah 500 viewsAfter Tabor graduate and Marion native Hannah Strom was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident in Florida last week while traveling with the Holy Cross Women’s Rowing team, her community back home is showing its support by displaying red and purple hearts on the doors and windows of homes, buildings, and village businesses. These two hearts hung on the door of the Marion Art Center are only two of many popping up all over Marion as a way to show support for Strom and her family

Sunrise at Ned's Point585 viewsSunrises at Ned's Point are a Mattapoisett treasure, and resident Steve Chicco is one of the lucky ones who can rise early enough to witness them firsthand. For the rest of us, we can be grateful that Chicco captures moments such as this one with a flock of gulls emerging from a glorious morning sky with his camera and shares them with us.
