Listen to his tales from this voyage and his other sailing adventures. The event is on Saturday\, August 1. Doors open at 5:30 pm; presentation begins at 6:30 pm. \nJerome narrates through his video clips of real-life adventures and lessons learned at sea. The ocean has always been Jerome’s greatest teacher. The challenges presented by solo offshore sailing start on land but extend far into the deep blue sea. Changing weather\, equipment failures\, uncertainty and isolation are unavoidable\, and there is no pause button out on the water. \nTickets are $20 per person. In this story Constance Middleton\, the stalwart wife of a philandering Harley Street doctor\, starts reassessing her life and her choices both past and present. Her decisions are bold and surprising to herself and everyone who knows her. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid\, anonymous position of advice columnist\, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. This is a play about healing when you’re broken and finding the courage to take on the questions that have no answers. \nCharacters are Sugar (Female\, 30s-50s): A grounded\, empathetic writer who uses her own raw life stories to guide others\, and three “Letter Writers\,” aged 20 to 30s\, any gender\, who can take on various roles and may perform quick character transitions. Characters may be emotional individuals seeking guidance\, others with sharp humor and wit\, and some who share stories with deep\, heartbreaking honesty. Actors will utilize vocal and physical distinctiveness to bring different stories to life. \nPerformances will be held on nine performance dates: October 9\, 10\, 11\, 16\, 17\, 18\, 23\, 24\, and 25\, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Emma Williamson will share her journey from casual puzzle enthusiast to World Championship competitor\, while demonstrating the techniques and strategies that help speed puzzlers complete jigsaw puzzles in astonishing times. She’ll explain how ordinary puzzle lovers become competitive puzzlers and offer practical tips and tricks that anyone can use. \nVisitors can also experience the excitement firsthand by signing up to try their hand in a Mini Pairs Speed Puzzling Competition\, sponsored by Bits & Pieces. Six teams of two will race to complete identical 300-piece puzzles. Pairs competitions are fast-paced\, fun to watch\, and a great way to introduce newcomers to the sport. \nEmma began speed puzzling in 2023 and has since competed in Atlanta\, Washington\, D.C.\, and Valladolid\, Spain. At the 2025 World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship\, she became the only American to win a semifinal match. Emma typically completes a 1\,000-piece puzzle in about 2½ hours\, with a personal best of just 1 hour and 50 minutes. \nWhether you’re a lifelong puzzle enthusiast or simply curious about this unique and rapidly growing competitive hobby\, this engaging presentation offers a chance to meet one of Marion’s own world-class competitors and learn how you\, too\, can become part of the speed puzzling community. \nThis presentation is free and open to the public as part of the library’s annual Summer Book Sale fundraiser. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid\, anonymous position of advice columnist\, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. This is a play about healing when you’re broken and finding the courage to take on the questions that have no answers. \nCharacters are Sugar (Female\, 30s-50s): A grounded\, empathetic writer who uses her own raw life stories to guide others\, and three “Letter Writers\,” aged 20 to 30s\, any gender\, who can take on various roles and may perform quick character transitions. Characters may be emotional individuals seeking guidance\, others with sharp humor and wit\, and some who share stories with deep\, heartbreaking honesty. Actors will utilize vocal and physical distinctiveness to bring different stories to life. \nPerformances will be held on nine performance dates: October 9\, 10\, 11\, 16\, 17\, 18\, 23\, 24\, and 25\, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.
