Winter Wonderland678 viewsMattapoisett landmark “Salty the Seahorse” sits watching over the town’s Dunseith Gardens on the corner of Route 6 and North Street on a cold, winter day. The Mattapoisett Land Trust will be sponsoring a Kubb game on Sunday afternoon, January 18 at the site. Kubb is said to be an old Swedish game whose origins may date back to the time of the Vikings and is a cross between bocce ball and horseshoes. The games begin at 1:30 pm. 03-22-011125 views3,000 Miles to Graceland ... well, maybe not quite that far, but it was certainly a long way for this foursome to go to pose with a copy of The Wanderer — just outside the entrance to “The King’s” former home in Memphis, Tennessee. While most of the students and faculty at Tabor Academy in Marion headed to warmer climates for the recent Spring Break, this entourage spent three days visiting the home and city that Elvis Presley so dearly loved. Pictured here outside Graceland are (l. to r.) Dana Palmer-Donnelly, formerly of Marion and now of Hingham; her mother Donna Palmer of Marion, a member of the Tabor Academy staff and a lifelong Elvis fan; and Tina and Winslow Lewis of Falmouth, the parents of a Tabor Academy senior. Also along for the trip (but not pictured) were Chris and Shelley Wells of Orleans. 3/22/01 edition44444
