Mom's Marathon '07544 viewsAn estimated 400 runners and walkers came out to the Oxford Creamery in Mattapoisett on Sunday, May 13 to participate in the first annual Tiara Classic Mother’s Day 5K Road Race. The race was held to benefit the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts. Many of the runners donned tiaras and capes, making this event one of the more colorful local road races. Tri-Town Bike Benefit646 viewsSeveral hundred children and their parents braved soggy conditions to participate in the first annual Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) Tri-Town Ride for Kids on Saturday, May 19 starting at Center School on Barstow Street in Mattapoisett. The young bikers arrived with the goal of pedaling their way towards raising $10,000 in the fight to find a cure for cancer. Local Idols581 viewsMembers of the Showstoppers Musical Entertainment based in Mattapoisett recently took top honors at two regional Performing Arts Competitions. Nine girls competed with six entries at the Dynamite National Talent Competition at Quinsigamond College in Worcester on April 14 and ten girls competed with eight entries in the Headliners Performing Arts Competition held at East Providence High School in East Providence, RI. The group took home several awards from both events.
