Turkey Trot 5K 375 viewsSunday was the morning of the annual Turkey Trot 5K in the center of Marion. Yes, it was rainy and windy, but the 80 turkeys (we mean participants) that showed up anyway still enjoyed the scenic village trot. Photos by Glenn C. Silva

RMS Students vs. Staff Basketball Game375 viewsTough luck again this year for the sixth graders at RMS during the annual students vs. staff basketball game on Friday night. Although students were able to tie the game and gain a temporary slight lead, in the end the staff’s moves took them down, 60-56. Fifth graders, it’s up to you next year! Photos by Deina Zartman

Vocabulary Day Parade375 viewsThe third and fourth graders at RMS transformed the school into one collective living, breathing dictionary last Friday, February 16, for the annual Vocabulary Day parade. Students chose a word and personified it in costume for the rest of the school, and this year for parents as well. Photos by Jean Perry

Blacking Out 375 viewsSomeone else may have written the words, but it takes a poet to pluck out the meaningful ones and turn it into a poem. The Mattapoisett Library hosted a Blackout Poetry Lab on Saturday, April 21, and provided all the materials for any blackout poet to explore the art form. April is Poetry Month, and this was just one of many celebrations of poetry at the library. Photos by Jean Perry

Marion Natural History Museum375 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time learning the difference between wild animal tracks, including coyote, raccoon, and bobcat. We also enjoyed practicing how to move like various animals by waddling, walking, bounding, and hopping. Bounding like a fisher cat and hopping like a snow shoe hare were by far the most difficult gaits to practice due to the placement of the rear feet versus the front. Many thanks to Jennifer Carlino for sharing her considerable expertise with us
